In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Where is the month going?!
I'm at 22k and writing whenever I can (or I'm not procrastinating) and it seems like time is getting away from me. I've hit a wall with my NaNo novel and I've actually started writing place fillers in my novel just so I can keep it moving along.
If my characters had their way, they'd still be stuck in a hotel wondering how they were supposed to get out so I write myself a few paragraphs to remind myself what I want to do when it comes to December.
This is my first NaNo and from the forums there, I expected it to be hard. I looked forward to the challenge of just writing without thinking about the words I was putting down but I have to be honest, it's a lot harder than it looks from the outside.
On a good note, I got a job! A real, honest-to-goodness job! I start on Monday and I feel so much better suddenly. Who knows, maybe it'll give me some inspiration for my novel and push me past that horrid wall I've been stood in front of for two damned days.

I'm being eaten alive by words.
Seriously, all I can think about right now is words, word counts and why my characters aren't doing what I want them to do. This is NaNoWriMo. I suppose I have it easier than other parents though. For one thing, my children are too busy writing their own NaNo novels to be bothering with annoying me (although they do periodically stop to tell me off for daring to play music and interrupting their thought process) and secondly, Lord Voldemort has very kindly taken over just about every household duty there is in order to allow us all to write.
The only thing that annoys me is that I keep writing myself into corners. I suppose it's easier to do when it's NaNo time but it doesn't make it any less frustrating when I do it. I may just follow advice and randomly throw in a ninja or two, just to see what would happen when I get stuck.
I do know one thing, when NaNo is finished, at least half of what I write is going to be binned. I've got three characters who've done nothing but bicker between themselves, wander around a hotel and, on occasion, set each other up to be eaten by zombies.
Oh well, I'm losing writing time so back to work it is. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

In Which I Am Annoyed.
Well, yesterday I didn't do too badly with a 2029 first day word count for NaNo. Considering I only needed 1667 to be on target, I'm quite happy with that. I wanted to get right down and dirty today and get some more words out on to that page but unfortunately, I haven't been able to yet. My dear husband (who doesn't want to be named and so shall be called Lord Voldemort from this point on) has volunteered both himself and me to paint the neighbours house.
I don't mind doing the work I suppose, the neighbour always pays handsomely whenever we do jobs for them, I just would've liked to have been asked first I suppose. Anyway, that's got off to a bad start after I accidentally locked the neighbours keys in his house when I decided to take a break from painting a ceiling. Oops.
I've had to go to his other house and leave a note begging him to come around and bring his spare keys so we can get in. You might be wondering why I've left a note instead of ringing him up and telling him that we've had a slight setback at this point. That would be because I've locked my phone in his house too. This is definitely a head desk moment.
Anyway, I've got some other work done that needed to be completed so it was out of the way, then I just have to attempt to cook dinner without giving people food poisoning before settling down for a few hours hard writing.
*sigh*
I definitely need to plan my time a little better, or at least, make some allowances for Lord Voldemort throwing a spanner in the works.
I hope everyone else is doing a bit better with their NaNo novels!

NaNoWriMo
Yes people, NaNoWriMo has started and I'm exactly 217 words in. Well, unless you count the synopsis as well. I've literally just come up with my novel idea and started typing away and I think it's going to be interesting to see where it goes.
The best part about NaNoWriMo? Nobody care's if it's grammatically correct, nobody cares if you make spelling mistakes or the plot gets twisted around or has continuity errors. It's all about getting words on the page.
Right now, my novel is intended to be funny but who knows what twists and turns it will take as the month progresses.
For anyone who's interested, I've called it 'The Zombie Plan' and here's the synposis:
Everyone knows that having a zombie plan is a great idea, even the CDC agreed on that point, and Sally Morgan was no exception. She kept putting it off though, always meaning to do it in a couple of weeks and never quite managed to get around to it. It was only a laugh anyway, wasn't it?
This morning, she woke up to find zombies everywhere and it's too late to make a zombie plan.
Now Sally has to make a run for it, making a plan up as she goes. The only problem she has now is, creatures just as strange zombies are coming out of the woodwork and she's got to get out of the city without getting turned into the living dead.
Sometimes, waking up sucks.
Have fun writing those novels people!

Happy Halloween
It's stupid o' clock and I'm having trouble sleeping. I have a full day coming up though so before I forgot, I wanted to make sure that I'd wished the world a happy All Hallows Eve.
Don't forget to take the time to remember your ancestors, those who came before you and paved the way for you to be here, at this time and in this place. That's what All Hallows was about before it was modernised and besides, one day, you'll meet those ancestors on the other side and I don't know about you, but I don't fancy an eternity being yelled at because I forgot.
Have a great time everyone!

All Hallows Eve
Yes, I know, everyone calls it Hallowe'en and yes, I know, not everybody likes it. You know what though? I like the traditional name and I love the people dressing up and coming to the door. Really I do, it's my second favourite time of year next to Christmas and I am looking forward to tomorrow night even though I have a hospital scan to go to which kind of ruins part of the night for me.
Anyway, besides the horrid scan, I have a whole night of fright-night freakery planned for my daughter and I, and we can't wait!
We're going to be watching an array, an ARRAY I tell you, of horror movies, popcorn and chocolate covered apples are ready, we have treats for visitors to the door and then we're having a Most Haunted Live fest from stupid o' clock onwards. It IS a school night though so goodness knows how Little Miss Writer is going to be at school the next day and yes, it's completely irresponsible of me to let her stay up until she can't keep her eyes open but as she only gets to stay up late two nights a year, I don't see why it's a problem.
I was going to do some horribly freaky things involving the surgery scar on my stomach to scare the trick or treaters who show up at the door, but thanks to late planning and lack of funds, it's going to be me dressed up as roadkill answering the door.
On the plus side, I've sneaked in and signed up for NaNoWriMo this year and perhaps this time, I'll actually make it to the finish line. It's going to be interesting if nothing else because I haven't even made an outline yet. I've just a vague idea of what I want to write and I'm going to fly by the seat of my pants.
This should be fun.

Well, what do you know...
It's been forever since I posted anything in here, mainly because I forgot I had this blog. I finally remembered it was here after looking for a way to check out the template designer that someone was going on about. Yes, I'm lazy, what of it?
A lot's happened since I last posted and to be perfectly honest, I really cannot be bothered to go through it all again, so I won't.
I'll just say hi again and, when I remember, update some more.

I'm still here.
Yes, I know it's been a while since I last posted but I'm pretty busy at the moment with one thing and another and my stories are still going through a polishing phase before I can even think about letting them loose on here.
Don't worry, they'll be appearing soon.

Hi There
Welcome to my little corner of the world. I am a writer and as a writer, I like my stories to be heard. After much head-scratching, dithering and outright procrastination, I decided to create this blog in order to post some of my stories. The logic behind this is: if I want people to read my stories, then I need them to be out there in the public eye. I don't know if anyone will read these stories and I don't know if anyone will care but I'll still put them up.
The stories may be good, they may be absolutely terrible, but I'm hoping that someone will read them and tell me both what I'm doing right, and what I'm doing wrong. Hell, even stopping long enough to tell me that they've been read will do.
Anyway, pull up a chair, grab a coffee and (hopefully) enjoy.
